Dream Journal Vol. 7: The Mountain in My Memories
I found myself at a train station, though I couldn't tell you which one. It seemed to connect directly to a modern indoor market or a mall, but everything was a bit blurry. Jihan was there with me. Right from the start, I had this uncanny feeling (like I was carrying a lingering memory from a completely different dream straight into this one).
Jihan and I set off on foot, walking a pretty long distance until we hit a mountainous area. The scenery was breathtaking. More than that, it felt deeply familiar, like a place I had visited before, not in real life, but in a past dream. A sudden realization washed over me, "Oh, this is exactly like that place from my other dream!"
I had no idea which dream it was from or when I had even dreamed it. All I knew, right then and there, was that my mind recognized this landscape from an entirely separate subconscious journey. It’s a bizarre feeling to remember a place so clearly inside a dream, only to wake up and realize you can’t track down the real memory anymore.
Jihan and I started taking photos and shooting videos, trying to capture the views and document our trip. But when I checked the footage, I absolutely hated how I looked. I remember feeling so annoyed with myself over it.
I also wanted to snap a scenic picture for my Instagram Story, but it turned out I didn't have my iPhone 5s on me. I had to scrap the idea, which weirdly ended up bothering me quite a bit in the dream.
Shortly after, Jihan called Dila to come meet up with us, and she joined us not long after. That’s when the dream took a confusing, glitchy turn, suddenly, I fell off a cliff.
Except, I didn't actually fall.
It felt more like my body was gliding downward or transitioning to the bottom of the cliff, completely skipping the terrifying sensation of a free-fall. It's hard to put into words because dream physics don't play by real-world rules. One second I was at the top, and the next I was at the bottom, perfectly fine.
After that sequence, the rest of the dream just faded away. The part that stays with me the most is definitely that mountain range. It’s haunting how a place can feel so deeply familiar when, in reality, you’ve only ever seen it in another dream.
