Dream Journal Vol. 8: The Man Who Chased Me with a Gun and the Halloween Party in the Alley

I was at my aunt’s house. I still don’t know what triggered it, but out of nowhere a man started attacking us. I wanted to help, so I tried calling out to him, but instead of stopping, he turned and started chasing me.

I ran as hard as I could.

The problem was, the guy was fast. Worse, he was holding a gun and kept trying to shoot me while he ran. Luckily none of the shots hit. I kept running through a fairly busy street lined with small food stalls and eateries.

I tried asking the people around me for help. But instead of helping, they just started running away too, leaving me behind. I panicked even more and just kept running without knowing where I was going.

Eventually I reached a downhill road.

In front of me was a man who’d just stopped riding his bicycle. I immediately asked him for help, but it was like he couldn’t hear or see me at all. I got so frustrated because I was really desperate for help, and the person standing right in front of me acted like I didn’t even exist.

I kept running.

Thankfully, up ahead I found a building that looked either like a mosque or maybe a hospital. I don’t really remember what it was, but it was packed with people. I went straight up to them and asked for help.

This time I got lucky. They were willing to help and asked me what was going on. I told them a man was chasing me and trying to shoot me.

Not long after, the guy actually showed up at the place. The moment I saw him, I pointed right at him. The people who’d been helping me managed to catch him and called the police.

I finally felt relieved. But then something completely absurd happened.

The man who’d been chasing me suddenly turned into a woman. Not even an adult woman, but a teenage girl.

I seriously couldn’t understand how that was possible?

From the very beginning I’d clearly seen him as a man. He’d chased me, held a gun, and terrified me, and then the second he got caught, he turned into a girl.

Typical dream. It never bothers explaining its own logic.

Somehow after that scene ended, I suddenly found myself in front of my grandma’s house. This time I was with my friend Dian. We were planning to go buy some food (meatball), i think using my neighbor’s motorcycle.

It was already night and drizzling.

But before we could leave, Dian’s mom had borrowed the motorcycle first to buy flour or something similar. So Dian and I had to wait quite a while for her to come back.

Once her mom finally returned, Dian and I left right away.

I was the one driving.

We stopped not too far from my grandma’s house, in front of some house I didn’t recognize. We ended up chatting with the owner.

Weirdly enough, the owner knew me.

I didn’t recognize him at all, so I just smiled and tried to act normal. After that, Dian and I continued on our way.

Along the way we passed an alley. It wasn’t a small one, it was actually wide enough for vehicles. But the road was closed.

We asked someone nearby why it was blocked. Apparently it was being used for a Halloween party. And yeah, the atmosphere really felt creepy.

There were a lot of people celebrating and the whole vibe was pretty eerie. But for some reason Dian and I still decided to go through it.

We kept walking through the party.

The people celebrating Halloween even looked surprised to see us. Like they couldn’t believe anyone would actually walk through there in the middle of all that.

We just kept going.

Until finally I woke up.

The second I opened my eyes, only one question popped into my head: What would’ve happened if that man in the dream had actually shot me?
